In May 2023 a workshop in Sintropic agriculture, a method developed by Ernst Götsch, was held at Quinta Palmeira by Jaime Otero. A small strip of land was cleared and intensely planted with a great variety of saplings and seeds of trees, creepers, vegetables and so forth, to imitate the rich diversity of a natural tropical forest. The ground is covered with a thick layer of organic material. The plants are then left to their own device, without a watering system and  are then harvested periodically until the larger trees establish themselves.
